Parents can sign their kids up now for Upward Sports basketball and cheerleading at Lake Sawyer Christian Church.
The program is open to children in kindergarten though sixth grade.
Upward Basketball offers competitive games through balanced talent on every team with a unique substitution system that is designed to allow every child equal playing time while competing against an equally matched opponent.
Upward Cheerleading gives youngster the chance to learn a sport as well as be a part of the action.
Participants will receive game uniforms “to look like a pro” as well as other gear that helps build team spirit.
Basketball players get to develop athletic skills needed to play at the next level while cheerleaders will learn the fundamentals that squads need to succeed.
Every player and cheerleader will enjoy game experiences while improving their skills and building self-confidence. Coaches teach values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity and respect.
Every participant must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading orientation at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, and Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Lake Sawyer Christian Church, 31605 Lake Sawyer Road Southeast, Black Diamond.
Cheerleading practices begin Monday, Nov. 15, while basketball practices begin Monday, Nov. 29. Practices will be on Monday or Tuesday nights. Coaches will have more information about game times.
First game is Saturday, Jan. 8, with the season ending in March.
Register by Oct. 24 and pay $80 for basketball and $85 for cheerleading. The price goes up after the early registration deadline passes. The deadline for registration is Nov. 9.
