The undefeated Tahoma girls soccer team jumped to the top of the South Puget Sound League, 4A North Division with a 2-0 victory over Kentlake Tuesday at French Field.
The Bears came out of the game with a 6-0-0 division and overall record.
Kentlake came into the game without a loss and a tie against Kentridge. The Falcons are now in third with a 4-1-1 division and overall record and Kentwood is in second at 5-1-0.
“The leadership on this team though is our strength,” Tahoma coach Jason Johnson said. “They really do a great job of keeping each other accountable keeping their play at a high level.”
The division is shaping up to be a royal battle between three very talented soccer teams, Tahoma, Kentwood and Kentlake.
Tahoma will head to French Field Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against Kentwood. The Bears host Thomas Jefferson 3 p.m. Thursday.
The Falcons beat Kentwood 2-1 Sept. 9. The Conks have not lost or tied a game since that defeat.
The Falcons travel to Mount Rainier High for a 3:30 game Thursday. Kentlake is on the road again Saturday for a 3 p.m. game at Thomas Jefferson.
The Bears front end speed was the feature Tuesday as the girls pushed the ball up the field. The Falcons had shots at the goal, but the roll was not with them, and Tahoma goalie Amber Woolcock was perfect in her stops earning the shutout.
Sarah Jeric scored both goals for Tahoma with assists from Brie Hooks. The first goal came at the 15-minute mark and the second at 63 minutes.
