Washington Synergy 98 12U fastpitch squad made up of girls from Covington, Maple Valley and surrounding areas took home second place at the NSA Tacoma Opener tournament March 19-20.

Synergy 98 won five straight games and only conceded defeat in the championship game.

Though the team fell short of their goal, coaches and parents could not be any prouder of these girls and the team played extremely well.

Anchored by outstanding efforts from pitchers Chenoa White and Mari del Fierro, the girls put together solid defense and stopped offensives cold,  including  key outs with the bases loaded, an inning ending double play pulled off by Hanna Elliott, and putouts at home by Kaitlynn Gain.

Though the weather was extreme at times, the girls’ bats stayed hot throughout the tournament.

Offensively the Synergy  team was led by Kaylee Hamilton with three doubles,  Mari’s triple, and several key hits with the bases loaded and two outs.   Every girl on the team contributed, from executing a key bunt to slapping a single, over the course of six games in two long days.

Next up for Synergy 98 is the NSA Ice Breakers Tournament in Tri-Cities.
