The holiday break was a winning one for boys and girls basketball.
The Kentwood boys, Kentlake boys and Tahoma girls won their holiday tournaments and were crowned champions.
Kentwood Boys
The Conks traveled east to participate in the Idaho Tournament.
Kentwood won its first match up Dec. 28 73-62 against Post Falls from Idaho.
The next day Dec. 29, Kentwood won 65-39 over Lake City, Idaho And finally on the last day of the tournament, the Conks beat Sandpoint, Idaho 69-50.
The Conks are sitting in first place in the South Puget Sound League 4A Northeast division with an undefeated 4-0 league record and 8-2 overall.
Kentlake Boys
The Falcons traveled far north for the Capital City Classic in Juneau, Alaska over the holiday break.
The first game on Dec. 28, Kentlake won 70-56 over Sitka High School.
On day two, the Falcons won 82-27 over Hydaburg High School.
And on the final day of the classic, Kentlake beat Juneau Douglas High School from Alaska 53-48.
Seniors Trey Helgeson and Julion Mackey were named to the Juneau Classic All-Tourney team.
And senior Austin McBryde was named tourney Most Valuable Player.
The Falcons are in last place in the SPSL 4A Northeast with a league record of 0-4 and an overall 6-4 record.
Tahoma Boys
The Bears are in fourth place with a 1-3 league record and 1-9 overall.
Tahoma did not participate in a tournament over the weekend.
The last game it played was Dec. 28 against Bethel.
The Bears lost 53-48.
Up next for Tahoma is a Saturday match up against Mount Rainier.
Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at Tahoma High School.
Kentwood Girls
The Conks are sitting in last place in the SPSL 4A with a 1-3 league record and 3-8 overall.
Kentwood faced Lindbergh Monday and won 58-35.
During the week, the Conks faced Thomas Jefferson and Decatur.
Those games were played after the press deadline.
Up next for Kentwood is an away game at 7:30 p.m. at Todd Beamer.
Kentlake Girls
The Falcons are in second place behind Kentridge.
Kentlake has an undefeated 3-0 league record and a 7-3 overall record.
The last game the Falcons played was Dec. 30 against Wilson.
The girls won by one, 66-65.
Kentlake was scheduled to face Federal Way and Mount Rainier this week with games being played after the press deadline.
A Saturday game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson High School.
Tahoma Girls
The Bears, like the Kentwood and Kentlake boys basketball teams, were tournament champions over the holiday break.
Tahoma participated in the Napavine Tourney in Chehalis.
On Dec. 29, the Bears won 53-35 over Roosevelt.
And the next day, it won the championship game 49-44.
Tahoma is in third place in the SPSL 4A Northeast with a 2-2 league record and 5-3 overall.
The girls faced Todd Beamer and Federal Way this week after the press deadline.
The next game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday when the Bears host Mount Rainier.
