OGAN RYAN

Kentwood

• Grade: Senior.

• Sport: Swimming.

• Accomplishment: Ryan has been Kentwood’s most consistent swimmer all season and will be the program’s lone representative at the state meet next week, when he competes in the breaststroke.

• Favorite class: AP Calculus BC.

• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite the past and present swim team, and we would have Red Robin.

• Favorite Movie: District 9.

• What’s on your iPod?: “Uprising” by Muse.

• Also noted: Ryan sports a 3.97 grade-point average, is part of the National Honor Society and is an Eagle scout.

KATIE STECKLER

Kentlake

• Grade: Sophomore.

• Sport: Gymnastics.

• Accomplishment: Steckler served up a strong overall performance at last weekend’s district gymnastics meet, finishing 11th overall among more than 125 competitors. Steckler’s top score came in the floor routine, where she pulled in a 9.175.

• Favorite class: Ceramics.

• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite (gymnast) Shawn Johnson and we would have Italian food.

• Greatest athletic moment: When Kentlake took second at last year’s Class 4A state gymnastics meet.

• Most recent book read/author: “Snowed In” by Rachel Hawthorne.

• What’s on your iPod?: All kinds of music.

• Also noted: Outside of gymnastics, Steckler is part of the National Honor Society and enjoys wakeboarding and inner tubing during the summer.

JEFF HARJEHAUSEN

Kentlake

• Grade: Junior.

• Sport: Wrestling.

• Accomplishment: Harjehausen, who came into the SPSL North sub-district tournament as the No. 12 seed, went on to win the 112-pound crown after fending off teammate Sean Farr 6-5 in the championship match.

• Favorite class: Draw/Paint/Design.

• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: (NFL player) Antonio Gates. I would serve fried chicken, biscuits with gravy, and Kool-Aid with a side of shrimp.

• Greatest athletic moment: Freshman year I took fourth at regionals and qualified for state.

• Most recent book read/author: “Friday Night Lights” by H.G. Bissinger.

• What’s on your iPod?: “Blah, Blah, Blah” by Brother Ali.

• Also noted: After high school, Harjehausen is considering joining the Air Force so he can become a pilot or if he may make a career out of video game designing.
