The Tahoma boys are once again loaded for bear going into the Mat Classic state wrestling tournament after dominating the 4A region 3 tournament Saturday in Camas.

The Bears took home the region title scoring 180 points followed by Union at 132 1/2.

Kentwood took 10th place with 50 points.

The next stop for the state qualifiers is today, Friday, and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome for the Mat Classic.

Tahoma

The Tahoma wrestlers brought home three championships and a total of 10 will be on the mats grappling for state titles.

Nick Whitehead at 126 pounds won his class at the regional tournament. He will be facing Cohen Cleek from Puyallup in the first round at state.

Justin Sipila was also a region champ at 132 and he will square off against William Galarpe from Eastlake Friday.

The third title from Camas was carried home by Ryden Fu at 138. He will battle Nick Voss from Puyallup in the first round of state.

Also wrestling for Tahoma will be Austin Michalski at 106. He took second at the region tournament. Izzy Murrietta at 113 came in third. At 132 Dylan Weiding and Payton Masterson, 138, both took fourth at the regional.

At 195 Dagen Kramer took third, Nic Carbone fourth at 220 and Chase Mulcahhy fourth at 285. All three will be wrestling at the Tacoma Dome.

Kentwood

The Conks carried home one title and a total four will be at the state tournament.

Andy Sandhu took the 120 title and he will face Josh Miranda in the opening round of the Mat Classic.

Blake Capperauld was fourth at 160, Matt Vanbrunt took fourth at 182 and Trent Harris was fourth at 195. All will be wrestling next Friday at the Tacoma Dome.
