This winning stuff is new to Tahoma fastpitch coach Tom Milligan as every win brings a new record, including wins this week over Kentridge and Kentwood.

On Wednesday, the Bears put away Kentridge 7-0, behind another complete game pitching effort from Sammii Jimenez who gave up three hits.

Meanwhile, junior catcher Shelby Carter went 2-3 with a double and two runs.

On Thursday, Tahoma jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning against Kentwood, then never looked back putting the Conquerors away 10-5.

With the pair of victories this week, the Bears are now 5-0 in the South Puget Sound League North and 8-1 overall, and looking back at 2009 the team now is two wins away from its victory total last year.

“You can’t be non-chalant about it,” Milligan said after the Kentwood game.

“Of the 14 girls on varsity, none of them knows how this feels. The juniors and seniors have seen it at its worst.”

At its worst was when a 2-1 loss was a “moral victory” when those upperclassmen were freshmen, Milligan explained.

Those older players have learned from the tough times, Milligan said, and now “they almost expect” to win.

“Now it’s starting to draw together,” he said.

In the win over the Conquerors, Jimenez pitched another complete game and picked up her fifth win of the season, while Kiley Dunn hit a double in the second inning that drove in three runs. Sophomore Jordan Walley added two runs on 3-4 hitting.

Brianne Cossey was 3-4 at the plate with a triple for Kentwood while Ally Mittleider went 1-3 and collected a triple.

With the win, the Bears sit atop the SPSL North standings all alone, as Thomas Jefferson is at 4-0 in league play.

Next up for Tahoma is Auburn on Monday then on the road to Federal Way on Tuesday.

Kentwood takes on Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kentlake picked up another win beating Kentwood 6-4 on Wednesday, going to 3-1 in league and 7-1 overall, with the Falcons lone loss coming to Tahoma on March 24.

Hannah Sauget started in the circle for Kentlake, pitching four innings, scattering five hits and collecting seven strikeouts. Nikole Weber came on in relief, throwing three innings.

Offensive for the Falcons, Brooke Evans went 3-4 a double and two runs scored, Kellie Nielsen smacked a double, picking up an RBI and scoring a run and Jessie Richardson went 2-4 with runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Kentlake hosts Federal Way on Monday then travels to Kent-Meridian on Tuesday.
