Tahoma High senior Kaila Kilwein signed a national letter of intent for gymnastics at California State University-Sacramento. The announcement was released May 24.
“Kaila is a legitimate all-around candidate,” Kim Hughes said in a release, gymnastics coach for California State University-Sacramento. “She has big skills on all four events and will definitely fill a void on bars where she has a major release combination. She’s strong and powerful and really stepped up at nationals where she went 4-for-4.”
Kilwein was coached by Brad Loan for the past 11 years, 10 at Puget Sound Gymnastics and 2010 at Roach Gymnastics. At the most recent national championships, she placed 21st in the level 10 all-around. She also finished third on vault at the regional championships in 2010.
