Tahoma High senior Amanda White signs to play Central Washington University socccer team

Amanda White, a Tahoma High senior, committed to walk on to the Central Washington University women’s soccer team this fall.

Amanda White signed on the dotted line Thursday.

White, a Tahoma High senior, committed to walk on to the Central Washington University women’s soccer team this fall.

She is one of nine seniors from a team that won the South Puget Sound League title and earned a berth into the Class 4A state title game against rival Kentwood with a victory over then nationally top ranked Skyline of Sammamish.

The Bears lost the title game to the Conquerors in extra time in a shootout.

White is a goal keeper.

During the past two years she has become quite familiar with Central having visited a half dozen times.

“They have my major,” White said. “Also, my best friend, Tara Duty goes there. I always wanted to play college soccer.”

White plans to major in physical therapy and is thinking about minoring in athletic training.

There are other upsides to Central, she noted.

“It’s not too far away from home,” she said. “Also, it’s not too big of a school… but not too small.”
