Tahoma bounced back from a non-league loss at Skyline on Monday with a big 4-3 victory over Emerald Ridge on the road on Wednesday.
Kiley Dunn, a junior third baseman for the Bears, started things off with a two run triple with two outs.
Senior Katie Jo Myers drove Dunn in with a single but Emerald Ridge, which won the South Puget Sound League South division last year, answered in the fourth inning by tallying a run.
The Jaguars threatened to score more with runners at first and second with no outs, but, the Bears turned a triple play to quash the rally.
Tahoma added its fourth run in the fifth on a two out double from junior Lisa Maulden, who drove in Emily Miller.
Bears ace pitcher Sammii Jimenez helped lock down the Jaguars with “a gutsy pitching performance,” Coach Tom Milligan said.
Tahoma’s fastpitch season kicked off with wins over Bonney Lake and Liberty at the Kentwood Classic on March 13.
Junior catcher Shelby Carter smacked a two-run shot and collected four RBIs in 14-7 rout of Bonney Lake while Jimenez collected six strike outs over six innings pitched.
The Bears followed that up with a 10-6 victory of Liberty. Juniors Lisa Maulden and Emily Miller had two hits each, said Coach Tom Milligan, while senior Katie Myers and sophomore Jordan Walley combined in the circle for the game.
On Monday, however, Tahoma’s big bats were quieted by Skyline, who took the non-league contest 2-0.
Jiminez struck out five Spartan batters in the loss.
