WRESTLING
The Tahoma Bears continued its domination of the wrestling ranks by sweeping the Regional II 4A District Tournament scoring 346 points.
Finishing second was Kentwood with 206.5 and third with 85.5 was Kentlake.
The next stop is the Tacoma Dome at the Mat Classic beginning Friday and continuing Saturday.
TAHOMA
The Bears will be sending 15 wrestlers to the Mat Classic to vie for the team state title and individual championships.
Wrestling at 113 pounds is Austin Michalski, Joe Novak at 120, Jordan Martinez and Cameron Hanson at 126.
At the 132 weight class Nick Whitehead and Payton Masterson.
Ryden Fu and Gunner Starren will be competing at 145, Ethan Vaughan and Justin Sipila at 152, Jake Bir at 160, Gage Dress at 182 and Kione Gill wrestling at 195.
At 220 will be Dagen Kramer and wrestling at 285 will be Nic Carbone.
KENTWOOD
The Conquerors are sending 10 athletes to the Mat Classic 4A state championship.
For the Conks wrestling at 106 will be Jabril Muhammad, at 113 Steven Bounyavong and Andy Sandhu at 120.
Zack Allen will be on the mat at 152, at 160 will be Stephen Watson and Jalen Ureta.
At 170 will be Jasmeet Khera and Blake Capperaulda and at 182 Leo Tizoc.
Yonas Meshesha will be wrestling at 285.
KENTLAKE
The Falcons will have three wrestlers representing the high school at the Mat Classic.
Roberto Alvarez will be wrestling at 106, Alex Lopez at 138 and Brandon Kelley 285.
GYMNASTICS
Kentlake, Tahoma and Kentwood gymnasts came out of the 4A district gymnastics meet Saturday at Auburn Mountainview flying high.
The Falcons took third as a team and individual gymnasts for each high school travel to the Tacoma Dome for the state championship Friday and Saturday.
KENTLAKE
The Falcon gymnastic team took third at the district meet with a score of 166.050.
Kentlake will be represented by Cassie Padilla, Cecelia Loudermilk, Calista Webb, Haley Pond, Autumn Bell and Katie Beliveau at the state meet.
The girls will compete Friday for the team championship. Saturday will be the individual championship events.
Padilla finished fourth in the vault with a score of 9.2, eighth on the bean with 8.9, seventh on the floor with 9.250 and sixth all around with 35.350. Loudermilk scored 8.725 on the bars and took fifth and she finished seventh all around scoring 35.075.
TAHOMA
Tenley Mjelde and Emma Rochleau will be competing at the 4A state meet beginning Friday during the qualifications for Saturday finals.
Mjelde tied Padilla on the vault with a score of 9.2, fourth place. She took sixth on the bars scoring 8.7, third on the beam, 9.375, third on the floor, 9.350 and third all around scoring 36.625.
Rochleau will be competing in three events at state — vault, bars and floor.
At the district meet Rochleau 8.15 on the vault, 6.7 on bars and 8.775 on the floor.
KENTWOOD
Alysa Shimizu will compete on the vault at the Tacoma Dome.
At the district meet she scored 8.1.
SWIM & DIVE
Boys swim and dive athletes competed at the district meet from Kentlake, Kentwood and Tahoma and will be in the King County Aquatics Center pool for the state championship.
The Tahoma boys finished fifth with 167 points. Kentwood and Kentlake each took 14th with 58 points.
For the Bears Nicholas Ainsworth will compete in the 100 and 50 yard freestyle, Parker Wichelmann will swim in the 200 and 500 free.
Zack Klobutcher will be diving for the Bears.
In relay events Jared Wold, Wichelmann, David Brannon and Ainsworth will swim in the 200 free.
Wold, Wichelmann, Jan Grobbelaar and Ainsworth will be competing in the 400 free relay.
In the 200 medley relay will be Ainsworth, Grobbelaar, Ethan Spencer and Brannon.
Kentlake swimmers Connor Riley, Nolan Sandifer, Alex Phillips and Colin Bryant will compete in the 400 free relay.
Connor, Gabe Krachunis, Phillips and Bryant will be swimming in the 200 free relay.
Devin Duong, Matthew Shull, Anthony Mastroianni and Alex Maloy will swim for the Conks in the 200 medley relay.
