The Tahoma girls tennis team played a solid match, but lost 4-1 to Kentwood at home Friday.
The Bears came into the match with three losses, as did Kentwood. Both teams were looking to get the edge in the homestretch race for the South Puget Sound League, 4A North championship.
Auburn also has three losses.
Coach Randy Sias said the team has had the “best year since I’ve been coaching. We were so close. We were third last year and we are moving up.”
The Bears beat Kentridge Thursday 3-2.
“Yesterday was a tough match,” Sias said. “I don’t think we’ve beaten them in nine years.”
Against Kentwood, Tahoma’s Kelly Lehigh lost 1-6, 4-6 to Tess Manthou in a well played match by both girls.
The doubles scores were not available.
Tahoma will travel to Federal Way for a 3:30 p.m. match Tuesday and close the season at home Thursday against Kentlake. The first serve will be at 3:30 p.m.
