SLIDE SHOW GIRLS TENNIS: Kentwood close to league championship after taking Tahoma

The race for the top spot in girls tennis became clearer Friday when Kentwood beat Tahoma 4-1 on the Bears’ court.

Both teams came into the match with three losses and sights set on the South Puget Sound League, 4A North championship.

Auburn also has three losses.

Kentwood is scheduled to travel to Kentlake for a 3:30 p.m. match Tuesday and host Auburn at 3:30 p.m. Thursday to close out the season.

The Thursday match could determine who wears the league crown.

Against Tahoma, Tess Manthou for Kentwood beat Kelly Lehigh 1-4, 4-6.

Doubles teams scores were not available, but will be posted when released.
