Tahoma’s boys basketball team has won five straight since a loss Jan. 5 to Thomas Jefferson. Tuesday night Tahoma hosts Auburn, which is 10-2 in South Puget Sound League 4A North play, and in first place in the division.
The Bears are 10-3 and in second place in the division. One of the Trojans’ two losses came at the hands of the Bears Dec. 15 at Auburn.
Auburn lost Saturday night to Kentridge, setting up Tuesday night’s showdown between No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the North. Meanwhile, Tahoma avenged one of its losses to Kent-Meridian with a 60-57 victory on the road Jan. 17 over the Royals then traveled to Kentlake for a sweep of the Falcons with a 71-56 win Saturday night.
With a win over Auburn, Tahoma can take sole possession of first play thanks to tiebreakers with two league games remaining on the schedule: at home against Kentridge Jan. 29 and on the road Feb. 1 at Thomas Jefferson to finish the regular season.
Tip off for the game against Auburn is 7:30 p.m. It is also Senior Night for the Bears.
