Nothing seemed to bounce Tahoma’s way Friday afternoon at the South Puget Sound League fastpitch tournament as it dropped both games.
In the semi-final game against Puyallup, Tahoma was down early, and by the fourth inning the lead was 5-0.
A late game rally wasn’t enough, though, as the Vikings beat the Bears 8-3.
Tahoma took on Rogers, who lost to Kentlake 8-7 in the other semi-final after the Falcons came back from being down twice in the game to get into the title match up, in the second game to try and battle for the third seed into the West Central District tournament May 21-22 at Sprinker Recreation Center.
Tahoma’s bats were not hot, however, as it lost to Rogers 5-3.
The Bears had taken a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third after Emily Miller hit an infield single, Hayley Beckstrom ripped a single between the third baseman and shortstop then Shelby Carter dropped a single in left field.
Lisa Maulden drove Miller in for the go-ahead run.
But, it wasn’t enough for Tahoma, which gave up four runs in the top of the sixth.
The Bears mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh but scored just one more run when Kaila Wilkinson drove in senior co-captain Katie Jo Myers who was on third base with no outs after ripping a triple to right field.
Tahoma, heads into the district tournament as the fifth seed. The Bears had won eight straight since its loss to Kentlake on April 20.
