BASEBALL

LASORDA TO SPEAK AT BCC

Baseball Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda will be the keynote speaker at the Bellevue Community College baseball preseason dinner on Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. at BCC. He will be available for autographs and pictures before and after the dinner. More information: (425) 564-2356.

MAPLE VALLEY PARKS T-BALL

Registration is now open for this popular Maple Valley Parks youth program. The registration fee is $48, and includes a team T-shirt and hat. The program is open to boys and girls ages 3-5 (must turn 3 by Jan. 20, 2009, can not turn 6 prior to June 1). Practices are once a week between 4 and 7 p.m. at Lake Wilderness Park, and games are on Saturdays from April 11-June 6. ADULT VOLUNTEER COACHES are needed. A coaches meeting is set for Wednesday, March 25, at Lake Wilderness Lodge. TEAM SPONSORS also are needed. The cost is $150. EVERGREEN STATE SPORTS

The organization is accepting NEW PLAYER REQUESTS for interviews for admission into its developmental programs. Teams currently seeking to fill rosters are 9-U, 11-U, 12-U, 13-U, 15/16-U, and 18-U. The 2008-09 TRAINING YEAR CYCLE is now under way. Team and individual sessions are available. The club is forming new 8- and 10-year-old teams to join its 12, 14, 16 and 18 age squads. Teams have limited spots available. Individual players may train with existing teams. Private, small group and team instruction is available working with coach Brian Embery. TEAM FACILITY RENTAL REQUESTS are being accepted. Options include rental only, or team training provided by Coach Embery. Limited time slots are available.
