The Bears are riding a late season winning streak of two games after taking Mount Rainier to the woodshed in a 49-0 thrashing at home.
The Tahoma football team beat Kentridge 36-34 Oct. 22 in a thrill-a-minute game won a field goal in the closing seconds.
Tahoma will travel to Federal Way for the final game of the season 7 p.m. Friday. This will be a non-league contest for the Bears.
The Bears enjoyed a wealth of running and scoring Friday with Caleb Holloway running in the first six from 21 yards out. David Stoecker booted the extra point.
It was a 35-0 lead for Tahoma by the end of the first quarter as it pounded the rock.
Patrick Ota ran in the next score from the 6-yard line with Stoecker adding the extra point.
It was Jeff Thompson on a 5-yard run next and he followed that score with another from two yards out. Stoecker continued his kicking perfection.
Thompson picked up 21 yards on four carries with those two touchdowns.
“He’d been injured all season and that was the first game he was able to get cleared to play,” said Tahoma coach Tony Davis in an e-mail. “Good finish to a tough senior year.”
Niko Madison drove from the 5 yard line for six and Zach Browne picked up another six from five yards out.
The final Tahoma score came from a 5-yard Harold Thordarson rumble to the end zone in the second quarter putting the game out of reach before half time.
Stoecker, who was the hero in the previous game on a 47 yard field goal, continued kicking well in victory over Mount Rainer. He was perfect for the night on points after touchdown, connecting on all seven attempts in the contest.
Tahoma’s record is 2-6 in the South Puget Sound League, 4A North Division and 3-6 overall.
