Kentwood pulled out a hard fought 44-42 victory over Tahoma Friday, Jan. 7 at home.
The victory gives the Conks a 5-2 South Puget Sound League, 4A North record with 8-2 overall. The Bears are at 1-6 in the SPSL with 4-7 overall.
The Conks outscored the Bears through the first three frames, but Tahoma kept the game within striking distance.
Kentwood went into the locker room at the half up 22-18. In the third the Conks went up by 10 and it looked like the team might put Tahoma away, but the Bears fought back in the fourth out shooting Kentwood 15-8.
Tahoma came within a couple of points, and with a few clicks remaining it looked like the Bears might pull to a tie or a one point win, but the Conks were able to play through the press for the win.
Jason Boyce and Taylor Jones each knocked down 12 points for the Conks followed by Denzel Shelton with 9.
Jeremy Smith and Alec Wilson each added five.
For the Bears, Christian Behrens led the scoring with 12 and Paul Loranger hit 10.
Logan Gudde hit eight, Ryan Goodman seven and Coleman Wooten five.
Kentwood hosts Auburn Riverside tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 11 and Tahoma host Kentalke. Tip-off for both games is at 7:30 p.m.
