Conquerors seal 10th straight playoff berth with win, push Tahoma to No. 4 seed from SPSL North
Stephanie Shumaker, a defensive specialist and setter for Kentwood High School, has signed a letter-of-intent to play volleyball next fall at Lewis-Clark State College.
Her signing by the college in Lewiston, Idaho, was announced today.
Shumaker helped Kentwood finish third in Washington’s 4A state high school volleyball tournament last year. This season, the team is undefeated.
Kentlake High sophomore Chelsea Bailey powered to victory in the 200-yard freestyle and also was second in the 500 free, both in state-qualifying time, in the South Puget Sound League 4A girls swimming championships last Saturday.
Perfection eluded the Kentwood girls soccer team last Thursday night.

Kentwood made it a perfect 50-for-50 in South Puget Sound League North Division play on Tuesday night, handling Kent-Meridian in three games: 25-13, 25-14, 25-11. With the win, Kentwood (7-0) remained atop the North heading into play last night. It was the first league loss of the season for the Royals (5-1). Jessie Genger led Kentwood with 17 kills. … Kentlake (6-0) remained neck and neck with Kentwood, knocking off Auburn Riverside in five games on Tuesday 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11. Kentlake senior Melissa Kozy delivered another solid match, garnering 21 kills and 20 digs. … Maria Bahnlenhorst pulled off a nice double-double on Tuesday, racking up 20 kills and adding 19 digs, leading Tahoma (2-5) past Auburn (1-5) in five games 19-25, 25-5, 25-27, 26-24, 15-9.
