The Maple Valley 8 and under Pony All-Star Team, the Heat, and The Maple Valley 8U select team, the Bombers, participated in the Fifth Annual Summer Knights Baseball Tournament in Federal Way July 23-26

Both teams played seeding games July 23-25 for Sunday’s single elimination semi-final and championship games.

The Heat and Bombers won each game during the seeding rounds and played each other on Friday. The Bombers won 10-4. The Bombers and Heat headed into Sunday’s semi-final round as the first and second-placed seeds respectively.

The Heat faced the Tacoma Bulldogs Sunday morning and won 18-4. The Bombers faced off against a Puyallup Cobras team and came away with a 17-2 win.

The victories pitted the Heat and Bombers in a battle in the championship round Sunday.

The Heat built an early lead.

But the Bombers came back in the bottom of the fourth to take a 12-8 lead.

The Heat tied the game at 12 in the top of the fifth.

With two outs and a man on second Connor McGuire came up and hit a line drive double to the gap in right field bringing home Gerarden for the game winning run for the Bombers.
