The Tahoma High girls swim and dive team took 14th place at the 4A state tournament Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center.
Junior Lindsey Hanger had a very busy weekend finishing in the top 10 for two individual events and swimming in two relays.
Hanger stood on the third-place step in the 100-yard free with a time of 53.34 seconds.
After the event she said the state meet was a great experience and the 100 free was, “exciting…. This is the best I have done at state.”
In the 50 free she came in sixth in a time of 24.85
At the district meet Nov. 7 Hanger took the crown in the 50 free in 24.74 and was second in the 100 at 53.10.
The Tahoma Bears had three relay teams competing at state.
In the 200-yard medley relay the Bears took 16th in 1:58.61. The swimmers were Amy Gill, Brooke Bailey, Bridget Duven and Hanna Adam.
Tahoma was 10th in the 200 free relay in 1:43.63 with Adam, Duven, Bailey and Hanger swimming.
In the 400 freestyle relay the Bears came in 17th with a time of 3:48.37. The team was Duven, Shauna Monahan, Adam and Hanger.
District dive champion Ashley Lewis took 10th at state with a score of 353.15.
Makayla Millard was 24th scoring 109.70.
As a team the girls scored 52 for 14th. At the district meet the team was fifth scoring 201.
Kentlake
The Falcon girls took 30th scoring 14 points.
Junior Katherine Beliveau took ninth in dive with 311.50. She took the silver at the district meet.
The Falcon 200-yard freestyle relay team came in 18th with a time of 1:47.09. Swimming for Kentlake was Avalyne Peters, Sarah Ruckman, Ashtyn Collins and Alessandra Losacco.
In the 100 freestyle event Peters swam 23rd in the preliminaries Nov. 6 with a time of 57.70.
