Conquerors secured the top spot in the SPSL 4A Northeast division Oct. 17 with its 38-7 win over Kent-Meridian

The Kentwood Conquerors secured the top spot in the South Puget Sound League 4A Northeast division Oct. 17 with its 38-7 win over Kent-Meridian.

The Kentlake Falcons and Tahoma Bears faced each other Friday at Tahoma. The Bears won 49-14.

The Conks hosted the Kent Meridian Royals Friday at French Field.

Going into the game, the Royals led the league with Kentwood close behind them in the number two spot.

Kentwood started the game, scoring first with a 38 yard field goal by Andre Slyter to take a 3-0 lead over the Royals.

The Conks added to its lead with two touchdowns in the first quarter. On both drives, Kentwood successfully converted two points.

The Conks led 17-0.

Kent Meridian scored a touchdown before the end of the first bringing Kentwood’s lead down to 17-7.

The Conks scored two more times in the second quarter.

Kentwood added two points to its lead with a safety.

And another field goal this time from 26 yards out to take the game enter halftime leading the Royals 22-7.

The third quarter was scoreless for both teams.

But Kentwood came out in the fourth, scoring three more times.

The first score was a touchdown with an unsuccessful two point conversion.

The Conks now led 28-7 in the final quarter of the game.

Slyter added three more on the board with his third field goal of the night.

Kaleb Swain scored a pick six after intercepting the Royals and returning 51 yards down field to the end zone.

Slyter and Swain were among this week’s players of the game as listed on Kentwood’s football website.

The regular season wraps up Friday with the Conks facing Kentlake at 7 p.m. at French Field.

Kentwood will be on the visitors side of the field.

The Conks are undefeated, 3-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall.

Kentwood’s only loss this season came to Federal Way earlier this month.

Beating Kentlake would allow the Conks to clinch the Northeast division outright.

To determine seeding ranks in the post season Kentwood will face the No. 2 seed of the Northwest division, the loser of the Federal Way vs. Todd Beamer game played Friday.

Kentlake vs. Tahoma

The Falcons and Bears faced off against each Friday.

Tahoma took an early lead scoring a one yard and a 50 yard touchdown by junior running back Caleb Brown in the first quarter.

The Bears led 14-0.

It’s lead continued through the remainder of the first half with neither team scoring in the second quarter.

The Bears scored three more rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown in the third quarter.

The Falcons scored seven midway through the third quarter.

The score came off a 90 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Trey Helgeson to senior wide receiver Matt Burley.

At the end of the third quarter, Tahoma led 42-7 over Kentlake.

Tahoma added to its lead with another touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Tahoma senior Damien Maricich scored on a one yard keeper.

The Bears were up 49-7.

Falcons junior Cody Faulkner scored the final points of the game for Kentlake on a 55 yard run.

Tahoma and Kentlake sit in the middle of the standings with a 1-2 conference record.

The Bears are in third place with a 4-3 overall record and the Falcons are close behind in fourth place with a 3-4 overall record.

The 2014 regular season wrapped up this week when Tahoma plays its final game against Kentridge today.
