Kentwood, Kentlake advance to regional games

The first round of the basketball postseason ended Saturday with the completion of the 4A districts tournament.

Boys Districts

The Kentwood boys team played the semifinal round against league rival the Kentridge Chargers.

The Conquerors started the game off strong and never looked back, winning 63-41 Thursday.

The win advanced the Conks to the districts championship game to face South Puget Sound League 4A Northwest leader Federal Way.

The Conks and Eagles played for the title Saturday.

Federal Way out played Kentwood and won the game 74-56.

However, the loss did not end the boys’ season.

The Conks advance to the regional round as the No. 2 seed.

Kentwood is scheduled to face Camas at 4 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 28 at Puyallup High School.

The winner will advance to the state tournament beginning March 5.

The loser of the game Saturday will not advance.

The Kentlake Falcon boys team continued play Feb. 17 with a 52-47 win over Spanaway Lake.

The win moved the Falcons to a loser out game against Gig Harbor Feb. 19.

Kentlake lost the game 60-44.

The Falcons were one win shy of entering the regional tournament.

Girls Districts

The Kentlake Falcons girls basketball team secured its spot in regionals.

The Falcons faced Todd Beamer Feb. 18 in the district semifinals and lost 49-30.

The loss advanced Kentlake to play for seeding against Curtis.

The girls won Saturday by two, 29-27.

With the win, Kentlake enters the regional round in third place.

The girls will play Skyview at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at WF West High School in Chehalis.

The winner will advance to the start tournament.

The Tahoma girls season ended Feb. 18 with its 59-55 loss to Timberline in a loser out game.

The loss comes after the Bears beat Kentridge 41-34 on Feb. 16.
