Kentlake girls swim second at district meet

Kentlake girls swim and dive came up big again with a second place team finish at the West Central District swim meet Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Curtis Aquatic Center.

Kentlake girls swim and dive came up big again with a second place team finish at the West Central District swim meet Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Curtis Aquatic Center.

The meet was won by Gig Harbor and Tahoma finished sixth out of 16 teams while Kentwood came in ninth.

The Falcons were led by a win in the 100 yard backstroke by senior Kyndal Phillips with a time of 56.84 seconds.

The Kentlake 200 medley relay of Allie Losacco, Laura Williams, Phillips, and Avalyne Peters finished second with a time of 1 minute, 54.09 seconds. Other second place finishes for Kentlake included Williams in the 200 individual medley, Phillips in the 100 butterfly, and the 200 freestyle relay of Peters, Losacco, Williams and Phillips, which tied with the relay team from Mount Rainier.

Junior Lizzy Reichlinger finished third in diving and Williams finished third in the 100 breaststroke.

Other top finishes for the Falcons included ninth and 12th place finishes for Losacco and Jenny Stefanescu in the 200 freestyle, respectively, a fifth place finish by diver Katie Beliveau, 13th place in the 100 butterfly by Amelia Knobloch, ninth and 11th place in the 500 freestyle by Losacco and Stefanescu, a 10th place finish by Nicole Bolstad in the 100 breaststroke, and a ninth place finish by the 400 freestyle relay team of Peters, Losacco, Bolstad, and Stefanescu.

Tahoma trio of third place finishes

The Tahoma Bears were led by a trio of third place finishes in individual events, namely juniors Jill Collins in the 50 and 100 freestyle and Jessica Miller in the 100 butterfly. Also finishing in third place for the Bears was the 400 freestyle relay of Allie Duven, Hailie Mazick, Lindsey Hanger and MacKenzie Dress.

Other top finishers for the Bears included the 200 medley relay of Collins, Hanger, Miller and Mazick who finished fifth overall, fifth and ninth place finishes by Miller and Hanger, respectively, in the 50 freestyle, a 15th place finish by diver Ashley Lewis, 15th place in the 100 butterfly by Duven, seventh and 12th by Hanger and Mazick, respectively, in the 100 freestyle, 10th in the 500 freestyle by Olivia Halbert, and a 10th place finish by the 200 freestyle relay of Duven, Hanger, Dress, and Hannah Adam.

Kentwood’s Natalie Lesnick shines

Kentwood was led by a pair of third place finishes by senior Natalie Lesnick in the 200 free and and 500 free.

Other top finishes for the Conquerors included an 11th place finish by the 200 medley relay of Drew Vagen, Emma Vagen, and Mae Waite, and Natalie Lesnick as well as a seventh place finish for Hannah Lesnick in the 200 individual medley, a 16th place finish in diving by Emma Vagen, a 12th place finish in the 100 butterfly by Waite, and an eighth place finish by the 200 freestyle relay of Emma Vagen, Waite, Drew Vagen, and Natalie Lesnick, as well as an eighth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay by the team of Drew Vagen, Avry Freaney, Delaney Mathews, and Hannah Lesnick.

The top six finishers in each event advance to the state meet at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way Nov. 15-16.
