John Deere Bonus challenge quarter horse race at Emerald Downs Sept. 25

Emerald Downs will host the first quarter horse race in the track’s 15-year history on Saturday, Sept. 25. The $10,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Dash-John Deere Bonus Challenge is an open 350-yard event with a maximum field of 10 horses. The entry fee is $200 with high weights preferred. Weights will be announced after entries close on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

John Deere and Emerald Downs will each contribute $5,000 in purse money, and all entry fees will go to the winner.

Emerald Downs, which opened in 1996, has been exclusively a Thoroughbred venue. The quarter horse race will be held on the 89th day of the 90-day meeting. The track recently announced it would host a special matinee-racing card Wednesday, Sept. 22, with first post at 1 p.m.
