With Gallyn Mitchell riding, Jadie Cahill covered 5-½ furlongs in 1:03 minutes, 1/5 seconds on a fast track, and paid $15, $6.80 and $4. Doris Harwood is the trainer for Vital Signs Stable. The winner, however, was claimed for $10,000 and will now be trained by Blaine Wright for owner Todd Havens.

Mitchell, riding his third feature race winner in as many days, drove Jadie Cahill through an opening inside and they gradually wore down Snooty Gal.

A 10-1 long shot ridden by Jose Zunino, Snooty Gal paid $10.80 and $6.40. Miss Fast Dancer, bidding for her eighth career victory at Emerald Downs, settled or third place under jockey Troy Stillwell and paid $3.60 to show.

Tail Spin Topper, the 9-5 betting favorite, failed to rally and finished seventh.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Cahill Road, Jadie Cahill has raced 12 times with four wins, four seconds and $29,492 in earnings.

Mitchell rode the late daily double, steering Flying With Faith to victory in the nightcap and tops the jockeys’ standings with six wins. Inoel Beato also rode two winners and won three races in his first weekend at Emerald Downs.

Trainer Vann Belvoir sent out Flying With Faith for the win in the eighth race and leads the trainers’ standings with five wins.

Jockey Ricky Frazier off mounts for weekend

Ricky Frazier was off his mounts again Sunday with a hip flexor strain, but the defending riding champion said he hopes to resume riding Friday. He will have an MRI on Monday, to make sure the muscle isn’t torn. “I’m being extra cautious,” Frazier said.

Frazier has won four of the last six riding titles at Emerald Downs, including last year when he rode 155 winners. He went down in the second race Friday when his mount stumbled badly leaving the gate. Frazier, 45, was treated and released from Valley General Hospital.
