Kaiea Higa, a 10-year-old from Maple Valley, won first place in her age group at the MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run competition at Safeco Field on June 15.
According to her father, Grant Higa, she was one of three girls in her age group of 9-10 year olds, the other two from Oregon and British Columbia
If Kaiea’s score is among the top three of 30 girls in the Team Championship field from around the country, she will be flown to next month’s MLB All-Star game in Minneapolis for the National Finals.
Grant said the winners will be announced live on the MLB Network on June 29th.
“We are so proud of her and she is having a lot of fun, too,” Grant said via email.
