The Tahoma girls soccer team fired its way through the quarterfinal round of the 4A state championship Saturday beating Lake Stevens 2-0.

The girls used their remarkable speed and ball control to rain down a hail of shots on the Lake Stevens goal, particularly in the second half.

At one point in the second period the Bears had five consecutive shots on the goal and the Vikings barely were able to get the ball past midfield.

The first goal was scored in the first period by Becca Velasco, unassisted, when she fired a fastball the ripped past the Vikings goalie into the net.

The insurance goal came in the second period when Cassidy Richmond nailed one after a header shot missed.

Next is the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at Harry Lang Stadium, 11023 Gravelly Lake Drive, Lakewood. The Bears play the winner of the Skyline-Woodinville quarterfinal game.
