Kentlake kicked off the season with a non-league match up with Bothell on Saturday — a game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was rained out — at Kentwood High.

The Falcons put the Cougars away 6-1.

Center fielder Erin Crowley scored on a Jessie Richardson on a suicide squeeze in the first inning for Kentlake.

Bothell knotted it up in the bottom of the first but it was the only run they would score on Kentlake’s defense as Hannah Sauget pitched a complete game, striking out nine and giving up two walks.

The Falcons scored two in the fourth and plated two more runs in the sixth.

Crowley was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs while shortstop Erika Smyth went 2-for-4 with a double and junior Maddie Brown was 2-for-3 with a double for the Falcons.

Kentlake hosts Thomas Jefferson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Elsewhere in the South Puget Sound League 4A North, Kentwood hosts Bonney Lake on Monday then kicks off league play against Kentridge at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kent Service Club Park.

Tahoma travels to Kent-Meridian for its first league game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
