Fast times still ahead as league and district meets loom | Girls Swim and Dive

With the regular season over, girls swimmers at Tahoma, Kentlake and Kentwood are looking toward the post-season. Many have already posted qualifying times for districts and some even for the state championship meet in November.

From Tahoma, five girls have qualified for districts, and one of them also has a pair of state qualifying times under her belt.

Senior Rachel Reese has posted qualifying times in the 50 yard freestyle, the 100 free, the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke.

Anna Pierre, a senior, has qualified to swim in the 50, 100 and 200 free, notching those times in a five day period earlier this month.

Michelle Hayden, a senior, posted a 26.92 in the 50 free against Kentridge on Oct. 1 to earn a spot in that race at the district meet.

Sophomore Tori Bowers will swim in the 200 and 500 free as well as the 100 butterfly at districts.

Kristin Ainsworth, a sophomore, has posted district qualifying times in five events: the 100, 200 and 500 free, as well as the 100 breaststroke and the 100 fly.

Ainsworth has also put up state times in the 200 individual medley, swimming that in 2:13.20 against Kentlake on Oct. 7, and the 100 back in 1:00.65 on Sept. 14 against Mount Rainier.

Kentwood has six girls qualified for the district meet.

Marissa Dyrdahl in the 200 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 and 500 free.

Lindsey Krause has qualified in the 200 IM, the 100 free and the 100 breaststroke.

Natalie Lesnick has district times in six events, the 100, 200 and 500 free, the 200 IM, the 100 fly and the 100 back.

Maggie Molloy will swim in the 200 IM and the 100 fly while Paige Morris will compete in the 100 and 200 free as well as the 100 fly at districts.

Erica Wright will swim in the 50 and 100 free as well as the 100 breaststroke and the 100 back, which she qualified for at the last meet of the regular season against Tahoma.

Kentlake has five swimmers who have qualified for districts.

Junior Annie Benoit posted qualifying times in the 200, 50 and 500 free.

Taylor Bouffard, a junior, qualified in the 200 IM, the 50 and 100 free and the 100 back.

Junior Sarah Dougherty has qualified in the 200 free, the 200 IM, the 50 and 100 free as well as the 100 back.

Sophomore Mekena Eha has qualified in the 100 breaststroke.

Freshman Kyndal Phillips posted qualifying times in the 200 IM and the 100 fly.

Abigail Swanson, a junior, has qualified in the 200 free, the 200 IM, the 50 free, the 100 fly and the 100 free.

Sophomore Emily Tanasse has qualified for the 50, 100 and 500 free as well as posting three state qualifying times in the 200 IM with a 2:14.82, the 100 fly in 56.07 and the 100 back of 1:01.46.

There are still opportunities for swimmers to qualify for district and state meets.

The South Puget Sound League meet is set for Oct. 23 at Rogers High while the district meet is scheduled for Oct. 28-30 at Rogers.
