South End finish undefeated, win Flag Football League Championships
South End Stunnerz caused three turnovers that quarterback Mark Nelson turned into touchdown passes and the Stunnerz went on to rout Bad Newz Kennelz 34-13 in the B league flag football championship game played at Lake Wilderness Park Saturday.
Nelson finished with four touchdown passes and contributed with one defensive interception while Bad Newz Kennelz’ quarterback Casey Bell threw for three touchdowns. one went to Blake Lang that he turned into a 40-yard dash for a touchdown for the defending champions
The South End advances to represent Maple Valley in the upcoming state tournament to be held in Auburn in mid-December.
Polk High wins back-to-back flag football championships
Lee Tracy threw three touchdown passes including the game winner with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter as Polk High (7-3) won the C league flag football championships by the score of 20-13. Glory Days’ (8-1) quarterback Andrew Jones also had a pair of touchdowns, but a costly interception in the third quarter stopped a potentially go-ahead drive.
The city of Maple Valley Parks and Recreation Department offers adult flag football once each year from August to November. Registration begins in July and the league is limited to 14 teams.
