Emancipated battled back for a nose victory over Immigration in Friday’s featured Cascade Coffee Purse for older horses at Emerald Downs.
The victory, accomplished in 1minute, 3/5 seconds for six furlongs, snapped a 12-race losing streak for the 5-year-old Washington- bred, whose last win was an upset over Margo’s Gift in the Trooper Seven Stakes on Sept. 14, 2008.
Ridden by Joe Crispin, Emancipated paid $18.20, $12.80 and $5.40.
Robbie Baze, saddling his second of three winners on the night, is the trainer for owners Betty and the Boys.
Immigration, ridden by Jennifer Whitaker, rallied strongly in the stretch but lost a heartbreaker on a head-bob. The runner-up paid $7.80 and $5.40. It was three-quarters-of-a-length back to So Whatabout, ridden by Inoel Beato, and a $4.20 show payoff.
Vaderator, the 13-10 betting favorite, stumbled at the start, raced far wide through the turn and finished seventh and last.
A 5-year-old Washington-bred by Free At Last, Emancipated has a 5-3-10 record in 26 starts and earnings of $86,037.
