Kentwood and Tahoma traveled to the Toyota Center in Kennewick to compete in the 4A state volleyball championship Nov. 11-12.
The Kentwood girls took home a fourth-place medal and Tahoma a seventh place.
Both teams completed excellent regular seasons with Tahoma posting an undefeated record in the North Puget Sound League Cascade Division, 7-0 and 19-5 overall.
Kentwood took second in the division with a 6-1 record and 17-7 overall. The Conks only loss in the regular season was to the Bears Sept. 21.
At the state tournament Kentwood opened the tournament beating Monroe 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16. The Conks followed up with a win against Curtis in the second round 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20.
Kentwood lost to Mead in the next round 20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22.
The Conks lost to Bellarmine Prep 19-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-21 taking fourth.
Tahoma lost in the first round of state to Mead 25-12, 22-25, 25-21, 25-23.
The Bears won every match after the initial loss.
Tahoma beat Puyallup 25-7, 25-16, 29-27. Next the Bears beat West Valley 25-18, 28-26, 25-17.
In Tahoma’s final match the girls beat Lake Stevens 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20.
