Another five game win for Tahoma over Kent-Meridian keeps Bears undefeated in SPSL North | Volleyball

Tahoma's power hitters racked up more kills in another five game battle against Kent-Meridian on Thursday night. The Bears beat the Royals, 3-2, their fourth straight five game match. The victory lifted Tahoma to a 5-3 overall record and 3-0 in South Puget Sound League North play.

Outside hitters Morgan Murrey and Rachelle Frets did quite a bit of swinging, with Murrey pounding out 19 kills and Frets collecting 21, but they got a big push from setter Miranda Grieser who put up 42 assists.

Frets also tallied seven aces in the victory while Grieser and libero Tayler Schroeder had four each.

Chloe Watson and Cherene O’Hara notched 12 and 10 kills respectively for Kent-Meridian while Kira Miller collected five aces.

Tahoma coach Sally Eager said in an e-mail she’s working with her team on avoiding the marathon matches.

Kent-Meridian drops to 2-1 in league and 5-2 overall.

Meanwhile, Kentwood has bounced back since losing in five games on Sept. 15 to Tahoma, with a non-league loss in the Kent Classic to Issaquah and two sweeps over league foes Thomas Jefferson and Mount Rainer in the past week.

Up next for Tahoma is Thomas Jefferson at home on Oct. 6, while Kentwood hosts Kentridge on the same night and Kentlake, which lost to Auburn Thursday night, takes on Kentridge on Oct. 11.
