Washington State Department of Natural Resources offers forest health workshop

Binetti teaches how to divide the landacape into season gardens

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Washington State University Extension will host a forest health workshop for landowners who want to learn how to recognize forest problems and how to manage their own forest so that it is resistant to insects, diseases, and wildfire.

Who: Forest landowners and residents of the Box Canyon Area north of Goldendale

What: Forest health workshop

Why: To help landowners learn how to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, improve wildlife habitat, and join cost-share programs.

When: September 27, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Directions:

From Toppenish heading south to Goldendale, follow US-97 S over Satus Pass

Travel approximately 2 miles south of Brooks State Park

Turn left onto Box Canyon Road

Travel approximately 1.5 miles to the Box Canyon Fire Hall

Destination will be on the right

 

From the Columbia River on I-84 E, turn left onto US-97 N/WA-14 W

Then take a slight right to stay on US-97 N

Travel north past Goldendale approximately 10 miles

Turn right onto Box Canyon Road

Travel approximately 1.5 miles to the Box Canyon Fire Hall

Destination will be on the right
