Thank you for the informative article which outlines the City Council decision to install a disc golf course at Lake Wilderness. While we are in favor of new business, we are even more interested in preservation of the natural beauty of the area which includes the safe habitat for wild animals, such as deer, etc. We were devastated to learn of the destruction of almost 9 acres of forest to build and install a disc golf course. We believe this venture cannot financially support itself and will not only be a money loser, but we will all end up with yet another large swath of forest gone, forever.
Our City Council members seem to be completely out of touch with regards to sound business decisions, preservation and proper utilization of one of the last remaining forested areas around our beautiful community. This proposed venture is wasteful and frivolous. In the furthest stretch of my imagination, I cannot simply believe it to be a profitable business and will end up as a logged off area looking to be re-purposed after it fails. We are literally stunned and disappointed in what seems to be a City Council eager to cut down the trees for whatever new idea comes around.
