Neil A. Sutherland
Neil A. Sutherland was born on October 1, 1927 and passed away on October 4, 2010. Neil was a Husband, Father, Veteran and Businessman. He was the definition of a self-made man. He left his last employer 48 years ago to pursue his fortune rather than the fortune of others. He was a proud man, and deservedly so, talented and highly intelligent, but not boastful. His accomplishments over his life were profound, including the creation of several successful businesses: retail stores, construction, apartment complexes, real estate, stock market… the list goes on and on. Life is full of little mistakes – Neil made far less mistakes than most people. He was proud of out-foxing-the-fox, a practical joker whom his family and friends enjoyably endured. His passions outside of family and business were the restoration of classic cars, piloting his airplanes, competitive archery and reading dime store western and detective novels.Neil is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Sutherland; his children – Lori Freeman, Julie Roth, Craig Sutherland, and his grandchildren – Doug Roth, Melanie Roth, Andrew Roth, and Chris Sutherland. Per Neil’s wishes, memorial services at Tahoma National Cemetery were for immediate family only.
