Jerry Woods, a long time resident of the Maple Valley area, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at the age of 67.
From a young age he was active in the South Seattle Saddle Club, started the Maple Valley Mud Run to benefit the Saddle Club. He re-established Cub Scout Troop 711, and founded Boy Scout Troop 486. He was active in the Maple Valley Rotary, and due to his involvement in bringing back the Holiday Engine, the Maple Valley Fire Department honored him by renaming it the Jerry Woods Holiday Engine. He had a passion for life and for people.
He is survived by his wife Fran, his son Paul, his daughter Karen and his four grand children.
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at Faith Baptist Church, 25636 140th Ave. SE, Kent. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Association.
