Dennis Charles Shay, 77, passed away November 19, 2018 in Auburn, Washington. He was born November 12, 1941 to Alfred Robert and Elsie Evelyn Shay in Yakima, Washington. A resident of Black Diamond, Washington for 20+ years. He also resided in Kent and Maple Valley, Washington.
Dennis graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Professionally, he worked as a printer’s assistant at GCIU in Kent, Washington, from which he retired. Also, he was very involved in activities at Lake Sawyer Christian Church in Black Diamond.
Dennis is survived by his brothers, Jack B. Shay, Timmy L. Shay, Mickey J. Shay, Ricky D. Shay, Greg S. Shay, and Shawn D. Shay; and sisters, Colleen A. Gulan, Marlene N. Krebsbach, and Maryanne Shay; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Elsie Shay; grandparents, Alvin and Jessie Fox Shay and Benjamin and Susie Beach Ottenstror; brother, Danny R. Shay; nephew, Shannon L. Krebsbach; and great nephew, Taylor J. Greissl.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Lake Sawyer Christian Church, 31605 Lake Sawyer Road SE, Black Diamond, WA 98010. Interment will be Monday, December 10, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
