Voters have approved Mountain View Fire and Rescue/Fire District 44’s bond measure proposing a property tax rate of 26 cents per $ 1,000 of assessed value to help replace aging firefighting and life-saving equipment, upgrade communications systems and renovate or repair five of eight aging fire stations.
More than 60 percent of the votes cast by district voters in the general election Tuesday were in favor of the measure.
The new rate will translate to $104 per year for a home valued at $400,000, for instance, according to district officials.
The district’s last bond request was in 1977.
