Woman’s death in Covington house fire ruled accidental | Kent Regional Fire Authority

Kent Fire Investigators have ruled a house fire where a woman died to have been accidental. The house fire took place on Monday, Oct. 4 in the 16600 block of Southeast 279 Place. Firefighters from Kent and Maple Valley responded to the two story home after the husband of the victim called 911 when he was unable to enter the bedroom where his wife was located due to the heavy black smoke.

The house fire took place on Monday, Oct. 4 in the 16600 block of Southeast 279 Place. Firefighters from Kent and Maple Valley responded to the two story home after the husband of the victim called 911 when he was unable to enter the bedroom where his wife was located due to the heavy black smoke.

The victim died as a result of injuries sustained in the fire.

The evidence indicates that the most likely cause of the fire is related to smoking in or near the bed.
