Winter weather conditions lead to closure of state Route 18 from Interstate 90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road

Multiple spinouts on SR 18 between I-90 and Issaquah-Hobart Road due to weather conditions led to closure.

Washington state Department of Transportation crews closed state Route 18 from Interstate 90 to Issaquah-Hobart Road Thursday evening after weather conditions led to vehicles spinning off the road.

Eastbound SR-18 re-opened to traffic shortly before 8 p.m. Westbound remains closed. There is compact snow and ice on the roadway and drivers should use caution or consider an alternate route.

Both directions of SR 18 — which moves traffic from I-90 near Snoqualmie to  SR 167 in Auburn and I-5 in Federal Way — were closed between Issaquah-Hobart Road as of 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to information provided by WSDOT, and I-90 due to multiple cars spun out.

Officials at this time did not have an estimate for when SR 18 would re-open. It was closed shortly after 4 p.m.
