The city of Maple Valley broke ground on Sunday, Nov. 11 — Veterans Day — to start the creation of The Greater Maple Valley Veterans Memorial. There were many there to speak in front of the many veterans and community members that came together on that brisk fall day to celebrate this monumental moment. Representative Paul Graves was even there to speak to everyone about the memorial and what it means to Maple Valley. His newborn son joined him as well. Maple Valley Mayor Sean Kelly also joined in and spoke kind words about city staff members and veterans who helped get the memorial going. Storm McNeil, a veteran who died, was honored at the event as well.
