Vehicle hits power pole and knocks lines down March 22 | Maple Valley Fire Report

At 11:57 p.m. a King County Sheriff came upon a vehicle off the road that had hit a power pole and knocked power lines down. The officer requested fire/medical assistance and aid 80, aid 85, engine 80 and battalion chief 81 responded to the scene. Upon their arrival firefighters treated both occupants of the vehicle for minor injuries and transported them to a local hospital for further evaluation. Puget Sound Energy crews responded to repair the downed power lines.

MARCH 28

SMOKE, NO FIRE: 21800 block of S.E. Wax Road. At 4:39 p.m. a tenant of an apartment called 911 while evacuating to report a cooking fire. Engine 81 responded and upon arrival firefighters found smoke in the apartment, the fire was already out. A plastic cutting board was left on the cook top of the stove and the burner had been inadvertently turned on causing the plastic material to smolder. Only minor damage occurred.

Fire Prevention Note

Only cookware should be placed on stove cook tops even when the cook top is not in use. Never place combustible materials such as paper, plastic, oven mitts and similar material on a cook top.
