Youth and Family Resource Fair

The Tahoma School District is hosting the Maple Valley youth and family resource fair from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Greater Maple Valley Community Center.

This event is for parents to meet local mental health and chemical dependency providers.

Celebrate the Nativity

For the 12th year the Maple Valley and Kent Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are hosting Celebrate the Nativity.

From 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6 hundreds of different nativities from many countries are displayed.

A food drive is also done to benefit local food banks.

Last year, more than a ton of food was collected.

There is live music and even homemade cookies for you to enjoy.

The event is located at 26800 236th Place SE in Maple Valley, one block west of Four Corners.

Toys for Joy

The Kent Regional Fire Authority, Kent Firefighters Local 1747 and the Kent Firefighters Foundation’s annual Toys for Joy event kicks off Nov. 23.

They are accepting new, unwrapped toys that they later deliver to food banks and outreach programs.

They are also accepting non-perishable food and monetary donations.

At Fire Station 75 in Kent on Dec. 9 and Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. there will be a toy wrapping party open to the public.

Toy collection barrels will be at a number of different fire stations throughout the area.

Giving tree at Foster Champs

Foster Champs of Maple Valley is collecting shoes for foster children.

At the John L. Scott office in Covington located at SE 270th Place

Suite 102 there are tags with children’s names and shoe sizes.

During their annual Christmas party, the children will receive their shoes.

They are also accepting food for local food banks.
