Two men were arrested early Friday morning for allegedly vandalizing Kentwood High School.
Covington police responded to the school around midnight on Friday, after being contacted by a janitor at the school about a report of vandalism.
When an officer arrived, he saw two men fleeing from the northeast side of the school, King County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West said in an email.
The officer arrested the two suspects, a 25 year-old-man and a 20-year-old man both from the Covington Maple Valley area. They were taken to the King County Jail. At least one of the suspects is a former Kentwood student, West said.
A spokeswoman for the Kent School District said there was “a good amount of damage” to the lobby of the school’s Performing Arts Center, as well as nearby classrooms and bathrooms.
School district maintenance personnel cleaned up most of the damage and boarded up broken windows before students arrived on Friday morning, so school was not disrupted.
