State highway officials are advising motorists to keep an eye out this weekend for crews relocating power lines on Interstate 405 as part of a larger project involving the Maple Valley Highway junction.
During daytime hours June 28-29, Puget Sound Energy crews will have a truck on the southbound shoulder of I-405 between State Route 167 and State Route 169/Maple Valley Highway. The truck’s arm will be extended over the median of I-405 to create a protective barrier while crews complete relocation of power lines, according to the state Department of Transportation.
While no lanes will be closed, the work may be a distraction for drivers, said DOT officials. They suggested that motorists slow down, use caution and pay close attention to signs while driving through the work zone.
The lines are being moved in preparation for the second stage of the I-405/Interstate 5 to SR-169 widening and State Route 515 interchange project. Construction work is scheduled to begin late this year or early next year.
