Firefighters serving Covington and Kent are conducting their annual toy drive this Christmas.

New, unwrapped toys can be donated at Fire District 37 and Kent Fire Department stations and at Kent City Hall during the Toys for Joy drive. Non-perishable food also will be accepted. Donations will be distributed to families through local food banks.

The goal of the program is to allow parents to provide gifts to their children that they might not otherwise be able to afford, said a spokesman for the firefighters.
