Today around 11:30 a.m. a neighbor called 911 to report three suspicious men walking in their neighbors back yard in the 20000 block of SE 260th Place in Covington.
Before officers arrived, the men had broken into the home through a glass door.
Within minutes the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One and deputies from the Covington Police Department, Maple Valley Police Department and unincorporated King County surrounded the house.
According to a press release from the King County Sheriff’s Office, the neighbor contacted the homeowner and confirmed that no one should have been inside the house.
One suspect was arrested as he tried to flee out the front of the house and the other two were arrested after being found hiding inside.
The entire home had been ransacked and valuables were loaded into backpacks.
The three men, two ages 19 and the third 18 years old, were booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
“Citizens are the eyes and ears of law enforcement,” said Cindi West, Media Relations for the Sheriff’s Office. “This is a great example of how knowing who your neighbors are, knowing how to reach them in the event of an emergency and calling 911 when something seems out of place is so critical to preventing and solving crime.”
