Tami Henkel is running for re-election to the Tahoma School Board. I have served with Tami since she was appointed in 2003 and, subsequently, elected to the School Board. She is a passionate advocate for what’s best for students. She doesn’t just talk the talk; but, she walks the walk.
I first became acquainted with Tami before she joined the School Board when she was a member of the district’s graduation requirements committee. She distinguished herself as one who listened to all sides of an issue before making a decision. She is a collaborative member of the School Board, Technology Summit and Community Relations Committee, to name just a few of her commitments. She regularly volunteers in elementary classrooms on her days off from her part-time job as an office manager. Tami brings her financial expertise to her School Board work and as the board’s representative to the finance department. Her experience and expertise is an asset to the School Board, students, district and community. I appreciate anyone who chooses to devote themselves to public service. In fact, I encourage anyone to volunteer in our schools and district committees. It takes a special person to join a School Board and spend the countless hours studying the issues, interacting with others and making the difficult decisions resulting in what’s best for all students. A school board member must be knowledgeable about all aspects of K-12 education and the Tahoma School District. Tami has been an integral member of the Tahoma School Board for the past six years. Her children have been students in our district their entire K-12 years. As a parent and board member, Tami has a valuable perspective that will continue to serve us all well the next four years. I urge you to vote for Tami Henkel, Tahoma School Board Position 1.
